Unless you’re some kind of superhuman or evil genius, chances are you lose your phone from time to time. In most instances, it turns out to be somewhere totally obvious…your pocket or bag, even. In others, somewhere a bit odd…maybe the fridge or an inexplicable corner in the office. But how about losing your car? […]

Bill Gates believes in the value of education – despite the fact that his own success story paints a different picture. If you’re looking for a phone that can take a serious beating but doesn’t deliver a wallop to the wallet, the Tank Xtreme 5.0 could be exactly what you’re looking for. The latest in a long line of recently releases from Blu, it’s probably safe to say the Tank Xtreme 5.0 isn’t the prettiest device on the […]

Surface guru waxes eloquent on Microsoft’s goals in premium space

“Let me be clear. Our intent is to compete in the very premium market… We look at Apple as a key competitor to the Surface product line and that’s how we think about the product line,” said Panay. “We want to give our customers more options in the premium space.” With the Surface Book also comparable to the MacBook Pro, Microsoft’s crossovers seem to be right where Panay wants them to be.

Panay wasn’t through, as he gamely answered MobileSyrup’s questions and even hurled a few choice volleys against the Cupertino company, stressing that Microsoft does not believe in conventional classifications for hardware and software.

“We don’t want that seam between the hardware and the software,” said the executive. “It needs to go away. We don’t want that barrier. I think historically you can feel the barrier between the device and its software and that’s changing. There’s really no such thing as a device and there’s really no such thing as software. They’re now just products.”

Talking about Apple’s use of USB Type-C as one of its selling points for its 2015 model-year MacBook, Panay wasn’t shy either about explaining why Surface does not include such a feature. He said that the standard, at this point in the game, “isn’t fair,” and does not have enough consumer penetration that would make it a reason for people to buy a new laptop, tablet, or crossover.
